UCR's role in solving the Tri-State Water War
UCR has been working on the issues surrounding the Tri-State Water War for 16 years. UCR is focused on the following efforts to help resolve this conflict while being a voice for the resource so many people, fish, and wildlife depend upon:
- UCR is worked in collaboration with the Georgia Water Coalition to promote water conservation as a sustainable means of securing our water supply while protecting instream flows needed to support fish, wildlife, recreation, and drinking water.
- UCR is educating businesses, local governments, and communities through our No Time to Waste campaign, which emphasizes cost-effective water saving measures.
- UCR is leading the Tri-State Conservation Coalition, consisting of 35 member organizations representing environmental and recreational interests throughout the ACF Basin.
- UCR is participating in the ACF Stakeholders, a divers stakeholder effort working toward a consensus-based vision for the ACF Basin.
- UCR is actively monitoring flow at critical places in the river, including Peachtree Creek below Metro Atlanta.
- UCR is sampling and testing water quality downstream of Metro Atlanta discharges to determine whether state water quality standards are being met.
- UCR is reviewing and commenting on regional and state water planning efforts.
