Rain Barrel Workshops

Since 2009 CRK has been working with the Coca-Cola company to replenish drops in the metro Atlanta area through the use of rain barrels. Coke provides CRK with used 60-gallon syrup containers for use by homeowners to harvest rain water. The program workshop is devised to teach homeowner’s about water conservation, water wise gardening and rain barrel installation and harvesting.

Each workshop is about one hour long. Participants receive a shortened version of CRK’s Tapped Out: The Drying of Atlanta, an enhanced PowerPoint presentation that examines the causes of the water crisis in the Chattahoochee River watershed and offers practical solutions for citizens, businesses, people and policy-makers.

The workshop also touches on using water wisely outdoors and water harvesting. Rain barrel installation, maintenance and safety are discussed, along with the conversion kit which includes ALL parts needed for installation. The conversion kit uses a diverter system which eliminates the need for cutting off gutter downspouts, mosquitoes and over-flow valves.

Rain barrel workshops traditionally cost $40 per person and includes a rain barrel and the installation kit. For more information email Bonnie Jackson at bjackson@chattahoochee.org.
