Other Ways to Give

Matching gifts: This is a relatively easy way to double your donation. Many companies offer to match whatever donation an employee donates to a charity (sometimes, however, there is a pre-set limit stipulating how much a company will actually match but usually it’s a one-for-one match; you give $100, the company matches that $100, making your gift valued at $200). All you need to do is check with your human resources department to verify if your company offers a matching gift program. If they do offer such a program, then get the required paperwork and enclose this form along with your personal gift when you mail it to UCR. UCR then processes the request on your behalf. Or, you may be asked to complete a form at the time you give your gift and your human resources department handles the request. Just check with your company to see which protocols you need to follow.

Stocks/bonds: Individuals may also want to consider donating stocks and/or bonds to Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. UCR receives the proceeds from the sale of these shares and the donor is eligible for a tax deduction (please consult with your tax advisor). CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD STOCK TRANSFER INSTRUCTION FORM.

EarthShare Georgia: Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is a member of EarthShare Georgia, a coalition of environmental agencies that works with area companies in setting up payroll deduction programs where employees may designate a certain amount of money to be deducted from their paychecks each pay period with proceeds benefitting EarthShare Georgia and, in turn, Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. EarthShare Georgia donors may also specify that the entire amount deducted from their paycheck be allocated to UCR. If your company has not signed up to participate in the EarthShare Georgia payroll deduction program, please email Becca Klein or call her at (404) 352-9828 x19. EarthShare Georgia workplace giving plans are often conducted at the same time as United Way campaigns are held.

Volunteering: Another way to support UCR is by volunteering your time and/or expertise to UCR. In addition to helping with lake/river cleanups, volunteers are also needed in the office to help with administrative activities, such as data entry and helping with membership mailings. If you haven't already done so, please register as a volunteer by clicking here. Someone from our office will be in touch as opportunities arise.
