The trips below focus on the Upper Chattahoochee (headwaters) above Lake Lanier, the ‘Metro’ Chattahoochee that flows through the Atlanta Area, and the Middle Chattahoochee around West Point Lake.

May 19-20, 2012 – Blue Trail Camping and Paddle Trip: Sautee Creek to Belton Bridge (25 miles)   NEW!
The Upper Chattahoochee River Blue Trail is a pristine section of waterway in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We’re pleased to add this trip for all to enjoy Sections 1 thru 4 - with camping at Buck Shoals State State Park. September 8, 2012 Chestatee River Paddle Trip (6 miles)
Enjoy a beautiful fall day paddling the Chestatee River above Lake Lanier from Appalachian Outfitters on Highway 60 to Highway 400. Flatwater and mild Class I rapids with beautiful scenery.

September 29, 2012 – Lower Soque River Paddle Trip (8 miles)
Come experience one of the few paddle trips down this beautiful river that feeds into the Chattahoochee above Lake Lanier. We will paddle from Cannon Bridge to Wildwood Outfitters at Duncan Bridge Rd. All skill levels can participate.

October 13, 2012 – Middle Chattahoochee below West Point Lake (8 miles)
Step back in time as you experience the beauty of the waters that powered local textile mills for years. We will paddle right up to the falls of Langdale Dam through clear waters and fall foliage. The trip will entail a short portage at the Crow Hop Dam then a 4-mile paddle down the east side of Johnson Island ending with a riverbank barbecue. Beginners as well as experienced paddlers will find this trip rewarding.

October 20-21, 2012 – McIntosh Reserve Paddle and Camping Trip (21 miles)
Paddle one of the longest stretches of the Chattahoochee still untouched by bridges and river-front development below Atlanta from McIntosh Reserve in Carroll County to the U.S. 27 Bridge in Franklin. Recommended for experienced beginners who know basic strokes and bracing skills.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • Fees: One-day paddle trips $35 per boat (solo or tandem); two-day camping and paddling trips $60 per boat (solo or tandem); Paddle Cleanups are free.
  • Participants receive a one-year individual UCR membership.
  • Registration required. All paddle trips have a maximum capacity we encourage you to register early to ensure participation.
  • Details will be provided in your confirmation email after registration and specific trip details will be emailed to you one week prior to the trip date.
  • Each participant is required to sign a UCR Liability Waiver. This may be submitted as an authorized as electronic signature during the registration process or print a copy and bring it with you. Click here to preview the UCR Liability Waiver.
  • Boating equipment is not provided for any UCR paddle trip or cleanup. Click here for a list of local outfitters. These trips are intended for kayaks and canoes only inflatable boats are not permitted. PFD’s must be worn on all UCR paddle trips.
  • Shuttling is a group effort and typically we will meet around 9 a.m. at the put-in to unload all boats and shuttle to the take-out before we get on the river. Details will be emailed to you prior to the trip.
  • Youth Age Requirements: If paddling solo, paddler must be at least 15 years old. If paddling tandem, youth must be at least 8 years of age and accompanied by an adult at least 21 years of age.
