Call To Action! Water Plan Vote Scheduled For Tomorrow, 1/18

In an unexpected move, the House and Senate will vote on the water plan tomorrow, Friday, Janary 18! UCR and the Georgia Water Coalition are opposed to the Water Council plan because it does not (1) require water planning by river basins, (2) restrict interbasin transfers of water or (3) allow local nominations to regional water councils.

PLEASE CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND SENATORS TODAY AND ASK THEM TO VOTE AGAINST THE WATER PLAN! You can find your legislators at www.congress.org.

We need your help to let our state leaders know that this plan is a toothless and unenforceable document. This plan will be used as an excuse to say that we’ve taken care of our water problems, yet it does nothing to resolve them. Furthermore, this water plan is NOT “better than nothing”. If approved, it would not be a state law. We need a state law that incorporates the good elements of the water plan into enforceable requirements.
