Schedule a presentation of Tapped Out in 2009

Rain alone won’t end our water crisis in north Georgia, as noted in last week’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution (click here to read article). Tapped Out: The Drying Up of Atlanta is UCR’s PowerPoint presentation that examines the causes of the water crisis in the Chattahoochee River watershed and offers practical solutions for citizens, business people, and policy-makers.

Click here for more information on Tapped Out. To schedule a presentation, contact Christina Cooper at (404) 352-9828 ext. 17 or ccooper@ucriverkeeper.org.

Symposium on the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid – Feb. 4

The Georgia Forestry Commission is organizing a regional symposium to relay the latest information concerning the hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA). The HWA is the insect wreaking havoc on Georgia’s hemlock trees, with the potential to eliminate hemlocks from our state and eastern North America. Hemlocks are a vital part of the ecosystem protecting our rivers and streams in the Upper Chattahoochee watershed.

The meeting will be held February 4, 2009 at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, Georgia. For more information and to register, contact the NGCSU continuing education center at www.ngcsu.edu/ce or (706) 864-1918.
