Paddle the Hooch on July 12!

Come paddle the Chattahoochee from Settles Bridge to Abbots Bridge on Saturday, July 12, for the second of UCR’s River Discovery trips. A National Park Service (NPS) guide will acquaint paddlers with the key features of that part of the river as participants learn of earlier times and how humans interacted with the river in ages past.

Bring lunch/snacks, drinks and a camera! The registration fee is $35 per boat and space is limited. Click here for more information and to register. Fee does not include boat rental and equipment. If you need to rent your equipment, please contact The Dam Store directly to make arrangements - 770.945.4000.

This trip is the second of five consecutive trips covering 37 miles of the river within the Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area (CRNRA ), from Bowman’s Island to Paces Mill. Although designed as a series, each trip can be traveled separately. For more information on the series and additional paddle trip dates, click here.

Whole Foods 5% Community Day a Huge Success!

Whole Foods Market designated 5% of the sales on June 18 at all seven Atlanta area Whole Foods Market and Harry's Farmers Market stores to SweetWater Brewery’s Save the Hooch campaign. The result? A check for $23,645 presented to UCR today. Thanks to Whole Foods Market, SweetWater, and everyone who made a special shopping trip to support this campaign!

Through the Save the Hooch campaign, SweetWater Brewery will donate a portion of all beer sales in the metro Atlanta area from Memorial Day through July 4 to UCR’s river patrol and water quality monitoring programs. So you beer lovers out there please note: three more days to support the Save the Hooch campaign and “give of your liver to save the river”!
