Shop at Whole Foods June 18!!

The seven metro Atlanta Whole Foods Market and Harry’s Farmers Market stores will be donating 5% of their sales on Wednesday, June 18, to the Save the Hooch Campaign, a program started by SweetWater Brewery to raise money for UCR’s river patrol and water quality monitoring programs. A portion of SweetWater sales from Memorial Day through July 4th will be donated to UCR, and local pubs and taverns are also taking part. Learn more here.

Do Your Part to Promote Water Efficiency

The Chattahoochee River and its lakes are seriously stressed by overuse and drought - and the summer is just beginning. Rain alone will not end north Georgia’s water shortage. To learn more about the causes and solutions to our water crisis, click here to read Sally Bethea’s recent opinion article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Click here to find out how you can help by using water more efficiently. Here are five basic tips:

1. Use less air conditioning! Saving energy saves water.
2. Replace grass in your yard with drought-tolerate plants or mulch.
3. Fix your leaky faucets and pipes - and report leaks you see in the street until they are fixed!
4. Replace your old-fashioned toilets and shower heads with low-flow models.
5. Support UCR, the only nonprofit whose sole purpose is to protect and restore the Chattahoochee River.
