Support UCR and Win Jack Johnson Tickets!
UCR is joining forces with Jack Johnson and the new social action network All At Once. From now through September 14th, All At Once will match donations made to UCR through our All At Once campaign page (click here) up to $2500! Also, if you donate $25 or more between now and August 5, you will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of tickets to Jack Johnson’s August 13 show at HiFi Buys Amphitheater. You can also send a check made out to UCR to our office with “All At Once” written on the memo line.
If you come to the concert, visit UCR’s booth at the Village Green, a collection of interactive exhibits featuring local, national and international non-profits. Donations made to UCR at the concert will also be matched by All At Once. To learn more or to sign up to volunteer at the Village Green, go to www.AllAtOnce.org.
Get the Dirt Out Workshop in Clarkesville - July 26
Stormwater runoff from construction sites is a major threat to the health of our rivers, lakes and streams. Learn how to be a citizen watchdog and combat this problem through a Get the Dirt Out workshop hosted by the Soque River Watershed Association and presented with assistance from Jason Ulseth, UCR’s Watershed Protection Specialist.
Participants will meet Saturday, July 26, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 pm, in the auditorium of the Clegg Building at North Georgia Technical College. A $20 fee covers the cost of materials (only one fee will be charged per family; participants are allowed to share materials with friends too). Lunch will be provided. Please contact Duncan Hughes at (706) 754-7872 to register or for more information about the training. Registration deadline is July 21. Learn more about Get the Dirt Out at www.getthedirtout.org.

River Discovery Series Continues August 2
Join UCR and a National Park Service guide for a seven mile paddle on the Chattahoochee River on Saturday, August 2. The trip starts at the NPS boat ramp just below Abbotts Bridge and takes you through the section most popular for boat fishermen due to slower currents. Take your time to spot the wildlife found along the river. After lunch on the river, float through the Jones Bridge Shoals before landing at the Jones Bridge boat ramp.
Bring lunch/snacks, drinks and a camera! The registration fee is $35 per boat and space is limited. Click here for more information and to register. This trip is the third of five consecutive trips covering 37 miles of the river within the CRNRA, from Bowman’s Island to Paces Mill. Although designed as a series, each trip can be traveled separately.
