Don’t miss the FREE Festival at Riverside Park

Looking for an excuse to get out on the river? Canoeists and kayakers of all ages and skills (open and recreational categories) will be participating in the Back to the Chattahoochee River Race & Festival this Saturday, June 14. Online registration is available here through June 11; walk-up registration will be available until 8:30 a.m. on Race Day as capacity allows. The race begins at 9 a.m. at Garrard Landing at Holcomb Bridge Road and runs 8 miles to Riverside Park in Roswell

At the free festival in Riverside Park (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.), enjoy music from Gareth Asher and The Vagabonds, over 50 environmental exhibitors, a farmers market, treats from The Pickle and other vendors, and lots of kids activities – strolling magicians, face-painting, bouncy room, balloon artists, scavenger hunt, and REI’s Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids (PEAK) program, to be presented at 1:15 pm in front of the festival stage.

Whole Foods Shopping Day: June 18

Save the Hooch Campaign Continues through July 4

On Wednesday, June 18, all seven metro Atlanta Whole Foods Market stores and Harry’s Farmers Market stores will be donating 5% of that day’s sales to UCR through SweetWater Brewery’s Save the Hooch Campaign. So mark your calendars and shop for a good cause on June 18!

There are still more than three weeks to go in the Campaign, during which a portion of SweetWater beer sales will go to support UCR’s river patrol and water quality monitoring programs. If you are 21 or older and enjoy a good brew, please choose SweetWater and help clean up your river!

Several local bars and taverns are doing their part to Save the Hooch by selling paper fish and/or t-shirts to their clientele from now through July 4, when the Campaign ends. Go to www.savethehooch.com for a list of participating businesses. As you can see, Taco Mac Perimeter patrons are really getting into the act! (Pictured right)
