River and Lake Cleanups

Over the course of the year, CRK has worked with more than 1,100 volunteers to clean up several tons of trash from our river and lakes, including 3.81 tons during the annual Sweep the Hooch cleanup in April. If you are a paddler and would like to combine your love of paddling with cleaning our waterways, see upcoming paddling cleanups.

Click here to register as a volunteer and help us clean our rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands. Registered volunteers will receive email alerts on upcoming cleanup dates, as well as other volunteer opportunities with CRK.

CRK supports and partners with Rivers Alive, Georgia's annual volunteer waterway cleanup event that targets all waterways in the State. The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia's water resources. Rivers Alive is held annually each October and is sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Program and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs' Keep Georgia Beautiful Program.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON CRK CLEANUPS

Our waterways provide us with fresh drinking water, great recreational opportunities like canoeing and fishing, and they serve as a pleasant respite from our busy day-to-day lives. This is your opportunity to help protect one of our most precious resources. Help us clean our rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands by volunteering on one or more of these cleanups!

What to Expect: You’re in for a memorable experience. In the beginning, you’ll be very angry with the amount of trash you’ll pick up. Then as the day goes by, you might find some amazing treasures (some you may even want to keep). But at the end of the day, we promise you’ll leave feeling like you have truly made a difference.

RSVP required for all cleanups. Each participant will be required to sign a Liability Waiver prior to the clean-up and a signed parental consent form for volunteers under 18 years of age.
