5/18/13 4 Seasons Hidden Gems Georgia River Network kicks off this inaugural paddle season with a 13-mile trip down the Chattahoochee River south of metro Atlanta. Trip includes presentations on the river's wildlife, and ways to get involved in water monitoring activities and trash cleanup events. Presented in partnership with West Atlanta Watershed Alliance and Keeping It Wild. Trip begins at 8 a.m. at the Highway 166 boat ramp, 6498 Campbellton Road, SW, Atlanta, 30331. 5/21/13 Etowah River User's Guide book-release event Joe Cook, Executive Director and Riverkeeper of Coosa River Basin Initiative, discusses and signs copies of his new book, Etowah River User's Guide (UGA Press), as part of the Decatur Arts Festival. 5/26/13* Watershed Outing: Shoal Lily Viewing Hike Part of our new Watershed Outings Program! Come explore this historic property with us out on the Chattahoochee River to Flat Shoals Creek and get a spectacular glimpse of these rare flowers in bloom as we enjoy a tour by the homeowner. 6/1/13 2nd Annual Clean Water Festival Community celebration of the continuing work and protection of West Point Lake to keep our lake clean. Enjoy a day of education, recreation, music and prizes on the late at Yellow Jacket Creek Beach. Boating, kayaking, beach games and fishing actvities included. 6/1/13 Soque River Festival The Soque River Watershed Association presents a 2-mile canoe or kayak paddle trip down the Soque River through Clarkesville, at Chatterton Place (just downriver from Pitts Park). $15. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. MORE INFO
6/3/13 Wolfe Farm Tour Come watch the sunset while learning about the importance of water on this farm and waht homeowner Ricky Wolfe and Sierra Club water-monitoring volunteers are doing to protect it. 6/8/13 Paddle Cleanup: Clean the Race Course for Back to the Chattahoochee In preparation for our 11th Annual Back to the Chattahoochee River Race & Festival, we are planning to pick up trash on the 8-mile course, from Garrard Landing to Riverside Park in Roswell. 6/8/13 4th Annual Endangered Species Day Come nose-to-nose with a gopher tortoise, a bald eagle, an indigo snake, a Gila monster and more! Learn about the Garden’s conservation work with rare plants and amphibians. Attend a behind-the-scenes tour lead by a member of the Conservation Department at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Free with Garden admission. MORE INFO
6/15/13 11th Annual Back to the Chattahoochee River Race & Festival Organized and presented in partnership with the National Park Service, Fulton County and the city of Roswell, the 8-mile race includes open and recreational categories, various age divisions, solo and tandem canoe divisions, as well as kayak and sea kayak divisions. The course features exciting Class I-II rapids and concludes at Riverside Park, where we host a festival complete with kid-friendly activities, live music, food and beverages, and vendors. 6/15/13-6/16/13 Georgia Mountains Farm Tour The Soque River Watershed Association offers a tour of as many as 16 farms throughout the North Georgia mountains in Habersham, Rabun, White and Stephens counties and even into South Carolina and North Carolina. 6/29/13 River Discovery Series: Buford Dam to McGinnis Ferry Series of paddle trips in partnership with the National Park Service, running the length of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. (See map.) This trip: Buford Dam to McGinnis Ferry, 9 miles. Starting at the base of Buford Dam in the clear, cold water released from the bottom of Lake Lanier and paddling to new ramp at McGinnis Ferry. Registration opens April 26. MORE INFO

Headwaters Water Trail Camp and Paddle Trip* The Upper Chattahoochee River Water Trail is a pristine section of the waterway in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’re pleased to add this trip for experienced paddlers to enjoy Sections 1 through 4 -- with camping at Buck Shoals State Park. Paddling experience is recommended for this trip, and helmets are required on Section 3. $75 fee includes dinner and breakfast on the trip as well as a one-year membership with CRK! 7/13/13 River Discovery Series: Jones Bridge to Island Ford Series of paddle trips in partnership with the National Park Service, running the length of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA). (See map.) This trip: Jones Bridge to Island Ford, 9 miles. Beginning on one of the most scenic sections of the CRNRA, this journey on the river will be an easy paddle with few riffles. 8/17/13 River Discovery Series: Morgan Falls to Paces Mill Series of paddle trips in partnership with the National Park Service, running the length of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA).
