Alexandra (Alex) Adams is the Policy Director at Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. She joined the organization in 2004 with a background in environmental policy and research, journalism and public relations. Alexandra received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Florida. After several years working in journalism and public relations, her long-standing interest in environmental issues led her to pursue a career in environmental policy.
Alex completed a concentration in Environmental Studies at Emory University in Atlanta and then obtained a Master of Arts in Environmental Studies from Brown University in Rhode Island. While at Emory, she held a position with Emory University’s Task Force on the Environment to create a campus-wide analysis of Emory’s environmental status. In Rhode Island, Alex was the program associate at the Washington County Regional Planning Council, working in five program areas: water resources, land use, transportation, economic development and affordable housing. She represented the Planning Council on the statewide Rhode Island Greenhouse Gas Process transportation work group and in other statewide planning meetings related to land use and water resource issues. Alex has also completed field programs in Georgia, the Florida Everglades and the Peruvian Rainforest.
